Orange County Cybersecurity Program

The County of Orange believes that a strong Cybersecurity Program is essential in order to provide secure and reliable business services to our constituents. The mission of the County Cybersecurity Program is to reduce security risk while allowing business efficiency.  The program works in close coordination with all of the County Agencies and business partners to securely exchange information among authorized users. The County believes that our employees are the first line of defense in mitigating the risk against cyberattacks, and we proactively integrate this model into daily operations as well as through training and education initiatives with County departments.

Key objectives of the program are to:

  • Ensure secure and efficient operation of County IT Business systems
  • Promote secure adoption of appropriate technology innovations
  • Provide proactive threat protection and monitoring
  • Coordinate effective and timely countywide incident response
  • Promote Security training and awareness
  • Ensure appropriate Public transparency and Personal Privacy
  • Meet Regulatory Compliance requirements

Training:

On an annual basis, County employees participate in mandatory Cybersecurity Awareness Training (CSAT). Additionally, the County partners with local, state and federal agencies to participate in National Cybersecurity Awareness month each October.
